    Ignition Interlock Program in Florida

    The Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) manages the ignition interlock program in Florida. According to Section 316.193 of the 2020 Florida Statutes, ignition interlock devices (IIDs) must be installed in the vehicles of certain persons convicted of a DUI in Florida.

    If a Florida court determines that someone can’t pay for an ignition interlock installation, the court can order a portion of the fines paid for violating section 316.193 to be allocated for installation costs.
