How to reinstate your license in Wisconsin

  1. To see if you are eligible to reinstate your driving privileges in Wisconsin, use the online system. You will need to enter if you are currently a resident of WI, your driver license/ identification number or your social security number and date or your name, gender and date of birth.
  2. File proof of financial responsibility (SR-22) with the DMV, if required. Check online to see if you need to see if you are required to file proof of financially responsibility , how long you are required to file and if there is currently an acceptable form of financial responsibility one file
  3. Call 1-833-545-0368 to schedule an ignition interlock installation appointment. You must have the ignition interlock device (IID) installed within 14 days of the court order.
  4. Get the IID installed, please make sure to bring all required documents to your appointment. We will give you proof of installation, which you will need to provide to your local DMV customer center.
  5. Pay reinstatement fee and all other required fees.
  6. When you have completed your suspension/revocation period, the above and all other requirements, you will be issued a license with an IID restriction. Meaning you can only operate a vehicle that is equipped with an ignition interlock.
